There are 2 brads holding
[element may be called a decorative button!] down the papers
on the side lets make those. There are a variety of shapes
you could use in place of these and easily made. Mine are
very simple ones for this page. Use the path drawing tool,
select a circle shape, the color of your choice, 3D-Custom,
a small box will come up that says Tool Settings Path.
Change the settings to these...
Draw a circle 50x50and place it
on your paper close to the middle on the outer edge as mine
is. Keep selected, hold down your shift key and also select
the top paper. Using the pick tool Center Vertically, that
will place it in the middle. Deselect. Select only the brad,
Rc Shadow, select the all around shadow, that we did before,
and change the settings to transparency 50, shadow size at
100, and soft edge 8. If your not happy with how this looks
on your color paper then just change the shadow settings.
Keep the button selected. We need another one. On your key
board there are 4 buttons with directional arrows. Located
at the bottom right side next to the numbers. We will use
them in the next step.
Rc duplicate. Using your
keyboard, the right directional arrow button, click on that
button and hold it down, you can move the duplicated brad
across to the other side and it will be lined up correctly.
A series of clicks will be necessary as you see it move to
the edge of the photo. When I first learned to do this
I over shot the paper! I just had to choose the left
direction arrow and tap it in place. It doesn't take long to
get the hang of doing this and it makes it so much easier
when you have these brads on each corner. you can make a few
more brads by duplicating one you just made and place them
on your small papers with words. I did resize those to 40x40
so they would fit better. Move those by hand and put them on
the edge of the paper.

For the rectangle at the top,
with the Path drawing tool, shape rectangle, color of your
choice and 2D. Make one w2400xh227. You can adjust it if you
need to if the height of 227 is is to short or to long for
your page. Rc Arrange -send to back Align Horizontally
Since this paper has your title on it don't choose to dark
of a color. I used a green color from the leaves in one of
my photos. I wanted to give this paper a bit of depth. Keep
paper selected. Effects/ Fills and Textures/ Texture filter.
Select Effect/ Embossed, Select texture from the drop down
arrow.

From the textures choose
emboss003.bmp [the 3rd on on the top row] Change your
settings as above. You can preview to see what it looks like
and change the settings if you wish. You can use a different
paper but if so use close to the above settings.
If you would like some texture
on your background you can do that as shown above. Perhaps
use the first texture with these settings. Try it to see if
you like it. Do a final
I use the .ufo
and PI program when I do my prints. If you are going to
print using another program then save it as a .jpg. Keep
your .ufo to use again with different pictures and a
different arrangement of the things you just made.
*Note: I will tell you that if
you resize this page you will not see the textures very
well, if at all. I will explain how to resize and you can
easily redo the top with your texture and your background,
so you can see the texture.
In order to show at the board,
or to e-mail someone your page, it needs to be resized. See
settings below. If you want a finished size to be 600x600
pixels change to 25% I do show additional settings and
suggest 23 or 24%.

You now have a new size so save
this but RENAME it, as a .ufo. You can keep
the same name but add sm to show you it's the smaller one in
the name of your file. You have now fully protected that
original page. If you look page closely at your page you will see that it
has lost the design in the top paper. It's your choice to
leave it alone or redo it. It will show better if you just
redo the texture with one change to the way it was done
before. Change the 100 setting to 50. Do the
background also if you need to. Don't forget you can preview
your design if necessary, while you adjust the settings.
Save again after your changes
and Save also, as a .jpg file for your e-mails or to show at
the board.
I hope you enjoyed learning how
to do a scrapbook page and I would love to see your page. It
will be different, than mine here, in colors and photos. I
hope your very proud of your work. Give yourself a big pat
on the back and show me your page! If you found any places
that gave you trouble just e-mail me and I will help you.
Please look at page 4 at all the completed pages I received
form others.
If you wish to do so, post your results in the Scrapbook and
Crafts forum of the
PhotoImpact International Bulletin Board. Thank you!
