For those viewing my progression
of this painting I asked for a critique when I posted to the
Painting forum and Norma helped me, see her comment below in hopes it
may help another painter. I value her expertise. Thank you Norma.
Re: 'Fall Splendor'-Rosalie
Hi Rosalie, great to see you and with a
lovely painting, the choice of the name sure is
right on, a Lovely " Fall Splendor" is is for sure.
I sure did love to see the progression of your
painting, you could very well make a tutorial out of
it. Hints hints... hehehe
Now
referring to the Principles of Art.
I have open in front of me, in your progression the
one you name, fall-painting-re8.jpg and the finished
painting. Look at the finished painting, on the
water, where it is a big dark spot with a purple or
violet color, the viewer have to force himself to
look further into your painting, now if you look at
the progression one I did mention, the viewer have
and easy movement to move into the painting. Also
the tree line where the water meets, is more natural
in the progression one. The extra work on the trees
on the finish painting is perfect.
Over all the painting is excellent great
composition, in your finish painting, you have to
focus point that are fighting for each other, the
dark spot on the water and the dark line in the
middle ground where the trees meets the water, this
is why the movement is hard for the viewer.
The progression one I did mention, is just perfect
if we consider the Principles of Art. Sometimes it
is hard to know when to stop, you may add the extra
you did on the trees on this one and you'll have a
master piece in your hand.
Great choice of frame as well, really does
complement the painting and don't take away from it.
