  • Filling in the pieces we made with the blue knit:
  • 5. Now we are going to use the knitted pieces to fill in the pieces we just finished.  Open the blue-knitpcs.ufo file. They are named as to where they will go.  Keep both the bears and the knits open you will be working back and forth as you fill the pieces. On the knit pieces select the first one, it says hat under it. Rc Copy. Now go back to the bears and select the hat piece. Go to Edit/Paste /Into Selection move the knitted piece right into the selection.  Click enter key to deselect. Easy isn't it!  That is how you do each of the pieces to fill them with knit. Your hat should look like the ss below

Go back to the knits and select the Scarf 1. Rc copy. Switch back to the bears and select the number 1 piece of the scarf.
Edit/Paste Into  Selection. Move that knit piece into the selection, make sure it fills the complete piece. Next do scarf piece 5 as in the ss below.

Continue with the next piece. Go back to the knitted pieces and select  scarf 6 piece, Rc copy and switch back to the bears. Select the 6th piece of the scarf. This piece is angled down. Edit/Paste into selection and fit the knit piece in your selection. Click enter key to deselect.

Please zoom this in to 200, if necessary so you can get all of the areas you need to fill in.

  • 6. Now for that center section of the scarf. Switch to the knit pieces and select scarf piece 2 [center] piece. Go back to the bears and Edit/Paste into selection and fit the knit piece in your selection, position it so the piece looks like the one below.

Next do the first yellow stripe piece, Switch to the knitted pieces and select the yellow knit piece and copy as before. Switch to bears and fill the yellow stripe like you have been doing. Finish both yellow pieces. Enlarge to 200% so you can see to fit in the yellow pieces.
Continue on with the last 2 blue sections.
The round red circles can be done now. [Note: Please read #7 for the instruction and screen shot if you want to make those yourself. Someone doing this tutorial that may be newer to PI can use the ones I put in the blue knits .ufo and following the directions in the next paragraph.]
Switch to your knitted pieces and you will see the red dots. Simply copy it and paste it in the bears picture. Position it on top of the circles. Below is the finished sections of the scarf at 200% see also how the blues line up. If you wanted to, you could make the center blue that is between the yellow stripes, a different color.
Leaving the red dots on top makes it look like it is raised, or has been sewn on top, for a decoration. Yours should look similar to the ss below.

  • Fringe
  • Doing the fringe and the Circles:
  • 7. To do the bottom fringe part with the magic wand, click on all of the area to be filled and if you enlarge your screen to 200% you should be able to get in the areas between the lines with your magic wand. Fill in the same manner you did the rest of the blue scarf pieces.
Or you can just put the piece, on the blue knits .ufo, copy that and paste it to the bears and move it to the fringe area then Rc/arrange/ send to back.

If you want to know how I did the red circles, I just opened the knits with different colors and I used the red one to clone on top of where the 3 circles are on the scarf. I adjusted the clone paint brush to match the size of the circles. I used the clone paint brush in mode and cloned 3 times over those circles. Then clicked out of mode. These pieces get lost and do not look raised if you put them to the back. The ss below will show the settings for the Clone paint brush. When the red dots are finished click out of mode. You can close out the 6-knit pieces.

    Placing the Patch
  • 8. Open the small patches .ufo file. Select one of the small patches just click on the one you prefer.

Rc/ copy and switch back to the bears and Rc/paste. Now move the patch to the top of where the patch is on the scarf and Rc/ arrange/ send to back. Position it if necessary.  The ss below shows the patch and the fringe part finished.

    Save
Congratulations you have completed the hat and scarf sections.
