Brenda gave this way:

Then you can merge the two layers, rotate it, add borders to
it, add a drop shadow, etc. Oh, I like to add some noise to
it as well. Makes it look a little more like fabric.

Cindy: That works quite well that way, Brenda !!
There is a different way I do it.
Here's the way I do grosgrain ribbon. I don't know that it's
any easier and making the ribbon wavy is only an option but
if a person wants to do that, it needs to be done before
putting the texture to it.

Birgit: Here's a third method to do the ribbon.

Brenda: Wonderful! Two more ways to do it! I'd tried
Cindy's method but couldn't get it to work. I didn't play
with the sliders enough. Thanks, Cindy, for the settings.
Birgit, you way is simplicity itself. That works just great.
I played with combining your method and Cindy's to make the
wavy part and then applied Greg's Factory Output Vol 2 Pool
Shadow (really love that filter) effect to come up with
this:

I'd want to get the waves more even and the border a little
thinner, but just a quick test was easy to do.

Sharon: I love the shadowed effect -
Yet another version -
My method for straight ribbon ( using PI XL)

Make two long rectangles one slightly wider (about 5 pixels)
than the other and place the narrower one on top of the
other.
Go to Effect Gallery and Texture.
Apply Embossed 7 to the front narrower part of the ribbon,
and Embossed 6 to the wider back part of the ribbon
center both , then merge as a single object

Rosalie:
Ladies and I want to put this on the SB Web Site in the
tutorial section for others. Fabulous job on the
instructions.
We had someone ask about making this over a year ago at the
board but I couldn't find that post. Do not want to lose
these great instructions.>
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and try and make this
type of ribbon..
If you wish to do so, post your results in the Scrapbook and
Crafts forum of the
PhotoImpact International Bulletin Board. Thank you!
